The Forest Wiki

I have to admit that I'm not entirely sure how creating a talk works, but I just wanted to give a quick elaboration on a minor edit I made to the Vegan Mode section of this page. The very last line of this section mentions that using Vegan Mode for 'too long' will set enemy hostility to the maximum level. Last week I turned on vegan mode during a playthrough on day 7, and somewhere between day 10 and 12 I turned Vegan Mode off again. After that, creepy mutants, masked cannibals and painted cannibals were all spawning on the surface, indicating to me that hostility was at the very least close to the maximum level.

Thus to me it seems there are several possibilities for the mechanism through which vegan mode increases hostility:

  • After less than 3 to 5 days of playing on vegan mode, hostility is at the maximum level
  • If vegan mode is on somewhere between day 7 to 12, hostility is at the maximum level
  • Hostility increases either gradually when vegan mode is on
  • Hostility suddenly switches to the maximum level after a certain threshold has been crossed

In case anyone wanted to look into this, I'm just throwing it out there. Given that the exact time or mechanism is not known, I have just written down 'a few days', to give an order of magnitude indicating that you can not spend weeks on vegan mode without hostility going up. --User:Warlandwriter

Thanks for taking the time to write this up! I think the warning about it is fine as is with your edit if nobody wants to worry about getting an exact answer. --Grendal27 (talk) 01:02, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
