The Freestanding Zipline is a utility structure building that was added in update v0.63 to The Forest.

Gameplay

Logs can be sent down the zipline, additionally corpses and torso’s can be "carried" while using the zipline. It has 2 gates, place either one high up and the other below and at distance, it will create a procedural rope in between that players can travel down. A player holding logs can press C to send one at a time down the zipline, but sending logs too quickly will cause them to drop to the floor.

  • Ziplines are the fastest way to travel in the game.
  • Pressing E or Space will let go of the zipline.
  • Letting go of the zipline and falling into water is safe, falling onto land is not so safe.
  • Regardless of which was placed first, the gate at the highest altitude will be the start of the zipline. You cannot ride it backwards.
  • Cannibals and Mutants will attack zip lines if the player is close enough to them.
  • Ziplines have a max length of 15 ropes. Mods can make the ziplines an unlimited length.
  • Can be used to get to the bottom of the sinkhole by running it directly across the middle of it. Let go after approximately 6 seconds to land in the water at the center of the sinkhole.
  • Carried items such as held live rabbits and animal heads will drop if you use the Zipline

Rope amount is dependent on its length with a max of 15 rope. This can be increased by using mods such as the Ultimate Cheat Menu.

Known Bugs

  • Freestanding Zipline blueprints can disappear and drop materials when rejoining servers. Best to complete them before hand.
