The deadfall trap is an advanced trap building which was added update v0.01 of The Forest.

Gameplay[]

The Deadfall Trap is designed to kill cannibals and mutants by dropping a falling log on them when triggered. Like all advanced traps, it will not trigger when animals run through it. In previous updates, it was less effective against cannibals as they would often run through the trap without being killed, but this was greatly improved in v0.67 - it is now much more effective, though it can no longer be climbed upon. Its low material cost also makes it relatively easy to make in a hurry.

Deadfall traps instantly kill cannibals on all difficulties. On Normal difficulty, mutants also die in one hit; however, on Hard and Hard Survival, the first hit will severely weaken them instead of killing them, and another trap is required to kill them completely.

As of v0.68, resetting traps now requires to hold the “Take” action 3 seconds.

Deadfall traps do the exact same amount of damage as Happy birthday traps.

Trivia[]

  • In very early versions of the game, the deadfall trap had downward spikes attached. They can be still seen in the Survival Guide image.
  • In update v0.67, the deadfall trap was revamped to have a much large area of effect when the trap is triggered. It also had sticks added to the sides of the falling log to reflect the area of effect.
