A Day is the only specified time period in the game so far, divided in daylight and night phases. A single day lasts just over 36 minutes, with 24 minutes of daytime and 12 minutes of nighttime. After an in-game death, the player will be told how many days they survived. Whether the ratio of day and night changes over time or not is not yet tested. Daylight also has many Patrols, but they are not as numerous or as aggressive as the Night Patrols.

Day Progression[]

As the days go by, new types of enemies will be encountered. New enemies will start spawning regardless of whether or not the player has had negative interactions with the cannibals, as this only affects the aggressiveness and rate of designated attacks by the cannibals, not the types of enemies that are introduced.

After Day 5, the Pale Skinny Cannibal will begin to spawn above ground. These cannibals start to replace the standard skinny cannibals. On Day 6, the larger Pale Cannibal will start spawning as well.

After Day 7, the dreaded Creepy Mutants have a chance to be encountered on the surface. These include the Armsy, Virginia (with the Mutant Baby), and Cowman.

On Day 15, the rarer blue variants of the Armsy and Virginia start spawning in, along with the Painted Cannibals. Painted cannibals are superior in health and damage compared to regular cannibals, and start becoming more common than them. The Fire Thrower starts appearing with this type of cannibal.

On Day 22, masked variants of the Pale Cannibal and Skinny Cannibal are introduced. They have higher health and damage. Pale cannibals become rarer after the masked variants are introduced.

The final day landmark is Day 40, where the Worm mutant, also known as John, has a small chance of spawning each day, with that chance increasing gradually each day until it eventually spawns. After the Worm is killed or de-spawns, its spawn cycle resets again.
