Aloe is a harvestable plant, herb, food, and healing item that was added in update v0.01 of The Forest. Aloe is the only way to remove infection in the game. It is also the only item in the game that can remove sickness without sleeping. It was made collectable for the inventory in update v0.06.

Gameplay[]

Aloe is stemless, with only thick and fleshy leaves. It can be used to craft herbal medicines, meds+ and energy mix+. It is most commonly found spawning in groups on the forest floor. The leaves can be eaten alone to cure blood infection and sickness, and to restore a small amount of hunger. When gathered, the player has a small chance to collect aloe seeds, which can be planted in a small garden or a wall planter.

Aloe is one of the most difficult items to find in The Forest. Aloe can be nearly impossible to find in some sections of the peninsula where the vegetation is denser due to the short, green nature of the aloe plant. Similar to coneflower, marigold, and chicory, aloe seems to spawn randomly, with every game having different spawn locations. There is a belief that aloe tends to spawn around sources of fresh water such as ponds and the river, though this isn't always the case.

The player can only carry 10 aloe in their inventory at a time.

Tips for finding Aloe[]

  • Walk instead of running to increase the chance of finding an aloe patch. It is easier to spot when you are not moving so fast.
  • Consider changing the color grading in the settings. For example, the "Blockbuster" effect will highlight greens and can make aloe easier to see.
  • Aloe is much easier to see in areas with less vegetation.
  • Like other herbs, aloe spawns in groups. If you find a spot with aloe, search the area for additional plants.
  • Mark aloe spawns with a stick marker. You can find it when you need it, it may have respawned.
  • Fertile lands has the most spawn spots of aloe in the game, though not always guaranteed to spawn due to random allocation.
  • Aloe can spawn in places where there were previous other herbs like coneflower, marigold, and chicory.
  • Use a garden to grow aloe once you have seeds. One seed can turn into 3 aloe if you leave it long enough. Though make sure you collect it before it expires otherwise the aloe will be lost. This is around day 4–6.
  • If you only have 1-3 aloe, then you should save it for curing infection and/or sickness. It is the only item can cure these so it's best to save them.
  • Check The Forest Map for locations, the herbs that are assigned are random:

Growing Aloe Vera[]

Trivia[]

Bugs[]

  • In multiplayer, there is a chance that the same herb plant will appear differently for different players. For example, what appears as marigold for one player may appear to be aloe for another.
  • Sometimes Aloe spawns underwater. (needs confirmation)
